Meet Elyse Gong, LCSW:

Hi, my name is Elyse Gong and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over eight years in working with addiction and mental health.

I have extensive experience in working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with addiction at different stages of recovery. I have coordinated with the highest levels of care (detox and residential) and provided treatment in a partial-hospitalization program/intensive outpatient program, and am currently providing services to those in recovery in an outpatient therapy setting.

In my prior experience with higher levels of care, I became all too familiar with the challenges of collaborating on an aftercare plan that includes an effective referral leading to a successful linkage with a therapist specializing in addiction for ongoing supportive services to maintain one’s recovery progress.

Often times an ongoing therapy linkage with a clinician who understands the disease of addiction can make the difference needed between long-term success in recovery and relapse.

Taking the first step to working with someone new can be scary, and often times becomes the barrier in following up with the referral in one’s aftercare plan.

For this reason, I want to be available to you either via a brief phone consultation or teletherapy even before returning to your community of residence to establish our supportive relationship so that you feel comfortable in continuing with ongoing supportive services once life gets busy and things can start to feel overwhelming.

I want to be the person who supports you and all the hard work you have committed to your recovery thus far so that you can be successful in all aspects of your life whether that means linking to ongoing individual, family and/or couples therapy to best meet your needs.

Self-Help Meetings in the East Bay:

This list is by no means comprehensive, however, it provides resources ranging from more traditional models (i.e., AA, NA, GA, etc.) to alternative self-help meetings (i.e., Refuge Meetings and SMART Recovery Meetings).

Resource for Recovery Support:

Ongoing recovery support is vital in preventing relapse. We thought this SAMHSA link has a good section (halfway through) that reviews recovery support:

Insurance Information:

Oasis Therapy Center is a PPO provider, meaning that our professional services qualify for reimbursement under most insurance plans. While we do not participate directly with any insurance company, many plans allow you to apply for reimbursement using the billing statements we give you at each session. With your written permission, we can also provide your insurance company with any additional information about me needed to process your claim.

To learn how much your unique insurance plan will reimburse you for an appointment with an "out-of network provider," please call the phone number on the back of your insurance card. We offer a  script you can use to discuss your benefits with your insurance company (click here.)

Additionally, it is a good idea to find out what your unique plan's deductible is, and if you have yet met it this year. Regardless of whether you meet with an in-network or out-of-network provider, you will be paying your deductible out of pocket until that amount is reached.

We accept HSA and FSA cards.

Finally, this is a reminder that if you are self-employed, your superbills can be saved and used towards itemized healthcare deductions in the next tax year.

Why doesn't Oasis accept insurance?

At Oasis, we believe is providing you excellent mental health care. This means immediate scheduling availability, therapist who have the time and energy in their schedule to truly devote to you, and the ability to provide the length and type of mental health care you need, not what is approved by your insurance provider.

Unfortunately, insurance companies often limit the number of sessions they cover, allowing a standardized cap dictate the kind of treatment you will receive, rather than your needs or goals for treatment.

Additionally, a mental "disorder" diagnosis is often required on paperwork, meaning that preventative care is not covered. We don't want our clients to show up decompensated and disordered because they waited too long to receive covered care.

We value an optimal course of care created by you and your therapist based on your goals. This way, you can proactively work together on issues before they become a "disorder."

Our clinicians are not rushing through rounds to get through a certain quota of patients. Rather, at Oasis our clinicians are given the mental space, and time in their schedule to truly be present with you.

We also make access a priority, so it will not take weeks on a waiting list to get in for an appointment. Our commitment is to see a client within a week of their reaching out for an appointment.

To learn more, please reach out to one of our care coordinators.
